Y: The Last Man Movie Gets New Life

The long thought dead film adaptation of “Lost” writer Brian K. Vaughan‘s acclaimed comic book mini-series “Y: The Last Man” is showing signs of life says Heat Vision

2 new screenwriters, Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia, are in talks to take on the long-gestating sci-fi adaptation.

The film has been around  on and off since 2004 with Shia Labeouf and singer Alicia Keys linked to star while filmmakers D.J. Caruso and Louis Leterrier were attached to direct at different points along the way.

The story follows young amateur escape artist Yorick Brown and his pet monkey Ampersand, the last two men on Earth. Something simultaneously kills every mammal on Earth possessing a Y chromosome – including embryos, fertilized eggs, and even sperm.and his pet monkey Ampersand, the last two men on Earth. Society is plunged into chaos as infrastructures collapse and the surviving women everywhere try to cope with the loss of the men. Yorick goes on a mission to find his girlfriend Beth, who was on vacation in Australia.

Federman and Scaia are known for their TV series–The duo will be starting from scratch ignoring previous drafts by done by Carl Ellsworth.

J.C. Spink, Chris Bender, and David Goyer are producing the pic. Mason Novick and Jake Weiner are executive producing.
