Trek 2: Ready Set Start

January 15, 2012

Principal photography began on Thursday for the long-awaited still as yet Untitled Star Trek Sequel!

Hero Complex visited the Sony Pictures back lot in Culver City, Calif. where new sets have been built. The team will also be filming at Trek’s usual home Paramount and on location for the next 4 months.

Apparently the Enterprise engine room gets an upgrade in the new film as well…

Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin John Cho and Bruce Greenwood have all returned to the Final Frontier in their respective roles as Kirk Spock Uhura Dr. McCoy Chekov Sulu and Admiral Pike

Everybody’s got their script –all printed on red paper with every actor’s name stamped across every page — and their brown bag and we’ve all signed these releases that are as long as your leg. The script is good, as you would expect,” said Greenwood.

You won’t be given anything by anybody when it comes to the movie. It’s easier to push the building than get anything out of anyone. We have a huge stage here, I haven’t seen it. It’s exciting.”

The Supporting Cast Includes Nazneen Contractor who will play the wife of Noel Clarke’s family man character Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch has landed the role as the still unknown bad guy while Alice Eve has a major role as does former “Robocop” star Peter Weller and actor/stuntman Joseph Gatt

Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof wrote the script for director J.J. Abrams.

Every single person involved with this movie has the same ambition — to do everything they can to justify the long wait … to live up to the lofty expectations of 40-year ‘Trek’ fans and those who are coming to the party for the first time. The energy is crackling. The warp core is primed. And we are, at long last, ready to boldly go once again. I hope to God we don’t screw it up.”, says Lindelof.

The sequel will be produced by Abrams, Kurtzman, Orci, Lindelof, Bryan Burk, and David Ellison.

The film will be released May 17, 2013 in 3D.
